Festival Beat Goddess: Face Centre Stage

So you're off to the land of sleeping bags, face wipes, toilet roll accessories and swigging a water bottle of vodka coke whilst shaking what yo'mama gave you to Ella Eyre. Hello Festival Season!  It's all very predictable and whilst every girl fancies her hand at rockin' the oversized floppy hats, bell-sleeved flowy tops, au-natural beaded braids and more boho attire than Florence and the machine, jumping onto the Kate Moss bandwagon now seems somewhat passé.

Instead of opting for the classic hippie-chic look, the S/S '15 and A/W '15 runways saw a flashback to '90s rave wave in the throes of colour explosion! Try your hand with a dash of neon cool, rainbow inspired wigs and shiny old-school classics and waltz your way into the world of techno-colour eccentricity! I've scampered together some inspiration for some crazy but approachable looks to get your creative fingers dancing and take your look into the dazzling limelight.

Time to get a little playful with the paint as you head to the festivals for some unforgettable field fun...You utter scamp! As if you need reminding but the party don' start till you walk in...

  • Take a graphic hit with a pop of colour on the eyelid, slinging your hair up into a colourful top knot or gathering into a high pony with lashings of mascara to let your look do all the talking.
  • Slick on a bright pink stain of lip colour for a real neon rave boom and you're good to get movin' groovin' and shakin'.
  • Team seductive cat eyes with metallic gems and splatters of reflective colour to take your look futuristic like an Egyptian minx queen.
  • Lavender and silver accents dancing around your eyes will give you an oh-so-pretty princess air of allure...blast away those naive accents with some not-so-innocent moves in the rave tents. Everyone loves a touch of minx underneath the innocence!
  • Paint splatter effect: Split splat with a smattering of paint pot colour! Combining a pale sky blue splattering of paint across your face with a deep navy blue lip blushing, copious amounts of deep midnight lashes to flutter and top knot miley buns will take your festival look to a whole other covetable level.
  • Simply take a paintbrush or make up brush, dip into some colourful water-based liquid eyeshadow and using your fingers to pull the brush bristles away from you, splatter the colour onto the side of your face for a messy-expressive playful look!
  • Total Wash Out: Why not try the simple-but-effective colour fade wash upon your luscious locks? Get your hands on some pastel hair chalks or spray-in colour wash aerosols and create some funky colour graduations to make you shine amongst the crowds! Let the colour start with its darkest intensity at your roots and slowly fade the pigment out towards your ends. Sultry violet purple is having a glorified fashion moment so take to the aisles of Boots and snag some striking shades of imperial colour!
  • Create a smoky look upon your lids using the same graduated effect with a smearing of glitter to catch the light towards your inner eye lid. Pop on a contrasting colour like burnt orange to your lips and you'll be one eye-catching vision of fun bobbing in the crowds!

  • Pair makeup rainbow brights with poker straight locks slicked back at the roots to get people talking in all the right ways! There ain't nothing poker straight n'boring about this look...you'll look like a naughty pixy tease fluttering about in mesmerising allure! Not only will you be a vision of envy and temptation but it'll keep those pesky flyways out of your face whilst you're busy moving your hips to the beats. Sexy yet practical!

A-Z Of Little Old Me

You know those days that just seem to slip away before you can even crack your sleepy-dust eyes open and get crack-a-lackin with being somewhat productive? Well this week seems adamant in making every day feel like it's waving goodnight before the sun can even shine!

With time whizzing away and my attempt at trying to make the most of seeing people whilst they're galavanting in the south vicinity before upping to sunnier climes, I thought I'd try my hand at a different type of post to end the week! I ran into this A-Z blog survey whilst perusing my usual morning blog reads and thought it was a fabulous way to let you all know a little bit more about me,  myself and I.

With a resounding drum roll and without further adieu let's get ready to rumble...

A - Age: Feelin' 22. I know, I look 12.

B - Biggest Fear: Being sick, losing all those closest to me.

C - Current Time: 8:02

D - Drink You Had Last: Matcha Green Tea.

E - Easiest Person To Talk To: My lovely Lucy.

F - Favourite Song: Right now I've got 2AM - Astrid S (Matoma remix), Pony - Ginuwine and Sigma - Glitterball (ft. Ella Henderson) [S.P.Y. remix] on my repeat radar.

G - Grossest Memory: It probably was when we were living in Barbados as kids! So there I was happily cleaning my teeth before tottering off to school and because of my stellar amount of height, I was hitched up on the bathroom cabinet with my leg tucked near the sink. Lo-and-behold my troublesome brother suddenly graced my poor, innocent leg with the contents of his breakfast and other unmentionables. Not even a generous dousing of my mum's Chanel No.5 parfum could mask the slight scent that lingered with me the entire day and it certainly did nothing to crack a flasher upon my frozen face. Chanel couldn't even make this girl happy. How tragic.

H - Hometown: I was born in Winchester, lived in the Caribbean as a child before moving back to Hampshire.

I - In Love With: Ice cream, fro-yo and CandyKing. That is the extent of my romantic entanglements.

J - Jealous Of: If I'm perfectly honest - every one. I appreciate that you've gotta work with what ya mama gave you but I'd love to just know what it feels like to really love yourself and truly believe in your abilities. To feel confident in myself and not give two hoots what anyone else thought would literatly blow my mind!

K - Kindest Person You Know: My Mum. She has a heart made of pure selfless gold and remains to be my diamond rock through life. I'm cute, I know.

L - Longest Relationship: Does my deeply intense relationship with ice cream count? Currently on-going.

M - Middle Name: Don't have one! It's because I'm cool and cool people don't need a back-up name.

N - Number Of Siblings: Dos. Two older brothers....hola bodyguards! All you guys should be quivering out there, the five hundred-odd of you.

O - One Wish: That my family and all those special to me are safe and live happy, self-fufilled lives. A close second would be to love and believe that I am good enough.

P - Person You Spoke To On The Phone Last: Gary from Topshop customer service. We're tight ya see...oh yeah, we go waaaay back!

Q - Question You're Always Asked: "What even is a blog?" or "What does the world look like all the way down there?"... Oh I'll tell you, pretty fudgin' great ta.

R - Reason To Smile: In reality there are many - no matter how small - which is why I definitely should do it more often. The beautiful sunshine smiling away in the blue skies is enough right now! I'd also like to include Channing Tatum in this appreciation list.

S - Song You Last Sang: Oh sugartits this is a good'un...Goldigga by Kayne. I entirely blame Nick Grimshaw. To be fair I actually belted out a complete gobble of undistinguishable words because what the heck is the dude saying anyway?

T - Time You Woke Up: 6.30am. Up and at 'em!

U - Underwear Colour: Black and white lace. Oh-la-la.

V - Vacation Destination: I really want to go to Amsterdam and Italy... a holiday to the Maldives wouldn't be too shabby either. Any willing offers?

W - Worst Habit: Worrying and over-analysing everythaaaang! If anyone has a spare box of chill-pills then I'm currently taking charity donations. Gracias.

X- X-rays You've Had: Elbow, skull, all-over bone scan.

Y - Your Favourite Food: To name a few...Strawberries, watermelon, berries, sea bass, yogurt, ice-cream, froyo, pick n'mix, veggies, fresh salad, BBQ sauce.

Z - Zodiac Sign: Aquarius! Shout out to all my water sisters out there...we're secretly mermaids don't you know? Yeah we gather on a weekly basis, climb onto rocks and flick our hair about in seductive ways hoping to catch the roaming gaze of our prince charming. And so the hair-flouncing continues..

Romancing Reality: It's Not Like The Movies!

We all know what we want from the opposite sex - primarily being what is largely broadcasted in our heads when we hit the snooze button and enter the land of no boundaries. Sadly that bubble is well and truly burst when we awake from our slumbers and face what it actually is. Less toe-tingling, heart-thumping and ecstasy screaming and somewhat unexpectedly mediocre with a hefty dose of sarcasm you pay for.

I've taken it upon myself to lay down the reality of modern day romance by using the number 1 rom-com movie of magic that has 100% in every way obliterated the golden light of lust for any man attempting to trump the book of love...

#1. Noah writes a letter to Allie every. single. flippin'. day. without. fail. (FYI: that's 365 pain-stakingly hand written declarations of profound adoration...lucky bitch.)

Modern Reality: Your boy finally gets round to gracing you with a response to your last text sent Monday at precisely 3.42am on Thursday. #Eager.

#2. Noah and Allie's first date consists of furtive stolen glances at the movies proceeded by a slow back-drop waltz in the street where they undoubtedly fall in love lying under the stars.

Modern Reality: Your "first date" was a cruise down to the local carwash that your boy won free in a work raffle whilst you both text other people the entire time the soapy suds outdoors experience more dirty action than you do.

#3. Allie and Noah's first awaited kiss is nothing short of fiery, passionate, straight up against-the-wall steamy. Oh, the dream!

Modern Reality: Your last lip encounter involved a lot of vodka, a lot of spittle and the proceeding week spent religiously nursing your lips back to health with a trusty pot of vaseline. Always a let down when your aim for a touch of lust becomes a river of slobber running down your chin. All you wanted was a kiss; not a facial wash.

#4. An argument between Noah and Allie consists of a short sharp bickering for all of 10 seconds immediately followed by jumping back onto the bandwagon of love with kisses for days.

Modern Reality: Forgiveness appears to be a foreign adjective in your relationship. A whole lot of ugly-crying, stubborn silence, several tubs of Ben & Jerry's and the fight continues after 7 days straight...

#5. Romantic gestures come as naturally as farts for Noah. Of course every girl can count on their guy sweating it out by building their dream house by his bare hands and rowing them through a river scattered with snow-white swans...

Modern Reality: Out of the pure kindness of his heart, your guy tells you about the incoming forest regrowth of your eyebrows whilst you're watching the Sunday grand prix. How thoughtfully romantic.

#6. Sex for Allie and Noah is as smooth, intimate, un-awkward and all good doses of nervous fumble as it comes. Precisely the way it pans out in your dreams every time.

Modern Reality: Getting down n'dirty for you involves a whole lot of jammed zips, getting your foot inexplicably tangled in something resembling a bed sheet, a wholly unfortunate knee jam in his left testicle (total accident, honest!), a squeaky headboard and a mad chicken dash for something resembling a condom. And we moan that true romance is dead these days...

#7. Noah always says the most adorable things to Allie like it's as natural as needing to pee. Ahem, the classic example being, "If you're a bird, I'm a bird." #swoon.

Modern Reality: On a rare dinner date to none other than Chimichangas, your boy snorts on his hot n'spicy tex mex sauce over his heart-melting declaration, "If you're a burrito, I'm a burrito." Witty. #Foodporn and wordplay - what more could a girl wish for?

Alas not all romances follow suit and some really are hilariously special in their quirky, awkward ways! In fact I would go as far as saying that whilst Noah and Allie represent the ultimate power couple of pure love, it's as predictable as your Nan's weekly Sunday roast. It's a touch bland, lacking in flavour and just a bit boring. Give me someone imperfect, a dose of irony, a whole load of sarcasm and belly-laughs and I'll be like star-struck putty in your hands!
